WHAT WAS ACHIEVED: A Display Typeface
METHODS I USED: Research, Illustrations, Typography
SO, WHY DID I CREATE THIS TYPEFACE?
This project is a personal exploration into type design, where I experimented with various methods to manipulate unique letter forms. Inspired by the 1999 film Girl, Interrupted, my typeface embodies the film’s portrayal of mental vulnerability and the feeling of disturbance. The dark, symbolic elements of the movie are reflected in the design, conveying a sense of being trapped in one’s own mind.
The word “fracas” means a noisy, chaotic disturbance, which aligns perfectly with the themes that I aimed to capture in this typeface.
ILLUSTRATED EXPLORATIONS:
For this project, I conducted research primarily through film studies, which inspired a series of illustrations. These illustrations were created as part of my experimentation with the typeface I developed.

CONCEPT MOCK-UPS:
These mock-ups were created to showcase potential applications of the typeface concepts.
